Carrie Bradshaw: Before there was sex… Before there was the city, there was just me, Carrie… Carrie Bradshaw.

Well, I completed the first season of The Carrie Diaries and I’m hoping it will be greenlit for a second season!

After Gossip Girl ended, I haven’t been watching any shows with lots of pretty clothes and makeup. Cue ’80s eye-shadow palettes! It certainly helped that there’s eye candy in the form of Sebastian Kydd (Austin Butler) and Walt Reynolds (Brendan Dooling)!

So, Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) is in high school and living in the suburbs with her father and sister, Dorrit, after she lost her mother to cancer. She’s this fresh-faced, wide-eyed teenager who’s eager to experience life and the city – courtesy of a law firm internship her father got her. Then, there’s her crush who melts her heart whenever he says “Hey, Bradshaw”.

I have only watched bits and pieces of Sex and the City but it seems that teenage Carrie is much more grounded. I was in awe of her when she refused to flash her vagina to the public despite Larissa telling her doing so would be an act of power. That was the point where I started to like Carrie. Despite her boy problems (read: Sebastian Kydd), Carrie could always return to the city and her internship which was a good alternative because most of us at that age only had home and school to look forward to.

Another storyline I’m looking forward to is Walt’s! Coming out in the ’80s is much more difficult than now and look at what is happening now. I can’t wait till the end of summer when he turns 18! I’m also kinda envious that Carrie has a gay best friend because that means she gets to stay past curfew and has someone to fetch her home from the station late at night. Where’s my Walt?

Fingers crossed for Season 2! #keepcalmandCarrieon
