If the main highlight of 2014 was me getting attached (finally, some might say), then 2015 is a different ball game.

  1. I went on a 11-day trip to Taiwan with my boyfriend! It is my first major overseas trip and I enjoyed myself tremendously! Experiencing a different culture, being extremely courteous, pigging out on the various delicacies and speaking Mandarin for, like, 99% of the time.
  2. I dropped my iPhone 6 into the toilet. That was the lowest low since my phone was only four months old. I cried. I bawled. I wailed. I was angry at myself. I scolded myself. I blamed it on my stupidity. I blamed it on my carelessness. Then, my boyfriend went to surprise me with a brand new iPhone 6. I was happy and I was sad. Happy because no one has ever done such a thing for me. Sad because I lost ALL my photos from my first ever Taiwan trip. (I’m also secretly afraid I will never get a chance to relive it).
  3. My first relationship passed the 1-year mark!It really isn’t easy, once the honeymoon period is over. There is a lot of compromise and communication to keep the relationship going and not to let your thoughts run wild. It is a challenge because my thoughts are running wild all the time!
  4. I’m no longer at my first job.Changing jobs may be really easy for every other person but it isn’t for me. So, taking that first step took a hell load of courage. It was also the first time I handed my resignation letter!
  5. My BFF got married!I was so happy for her then, and I’m so happy for her now! Sometimes, it feels like I’m living vicariously through her. Maybe I feel I don’t have the good fortune to live a complete life like she does.
  6. I applied for a BTO.
    Major milestone – checked.
  7. My Tumblr page is active again, kind of.After almost a year of inactivity and missing out on reaction gifs, I’m back with a vengeance! How I miss those glorious gifs, capturing priceless moments in movies, television shows and award ceremonies.

That is about all I can squeeze out for now.
Till then, have a happy and fruitful 2016!

This is also the last day of January, which makes it a month since 2014 began. Naturally, there would be some comparison with last year because I’m definitely craving for some concerts – I have nothing planned for the next quarter!!

So I thought it would be nice to round up some happy events that made up 2013…

1. New workplace

Yes, I’m still with the same company but the new job gave me a chance to work in town (finally!) and also awesome colleagues! It was really sad to leave the old place (I bawled) but I’m kinda glad I did.

2. Beer and other alcoholic beverages

This was the year old friends and new colleagues made me a badass and I’m lovin’ it.

3. Hair rebonding

I think this is the best decision I ever made regarding my hair.

4. Meeting The Ataris

My first visit to the The Boiler Room for a concert and it was really the rowdiest one I’ve been to. There were crazy loads of shoving and body surfing. I love love love In This Diary and The Saddest Song. Plus, it marks the first time I took a picture with someone famous – Kris Roe!

5. Bali

First trip with the girls!

6. Hairspray the Musical

First time watching a musical and it is magical!

7. Being a bridesmaid

Yup, first time being a bridesmaid! Pretty dresses and girly fun! I just wished I was less chubby in the photos.

8. Meeting Elvin Ng

Enough said.

9. Meeting The Killers (finally)

I cannot express how happy I am to see Brandon Flowers and Co. live at the F1 stage. Every song was performed with so much energy and passion!

10. Having an Instagram account

Where pictures speak a thousand words and for me to document my adventures relating to point two.

First of all, apologies because my list came out late this year. Too much alcohol can hinder your perspective of time. Oops.

Musical highlights have got to be the ‘NSYNC at the 2013 VMAs. Suddenly I realized all the boybands of today cannot hold a candle to those of the 90’s and 00’s. My playlist of boyband songs is sacred on my ipod.

Then I started rapping to the likes of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (“trust me, on my I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T shit, hustling… chasing dreams since I was fourteen”). Well, it’s been a long time since I wanted to learn the lyrics of a rap song. Then there’s Ed Sheeran who writes and sings crazy-beautiful lyrics and songs.

This year’s Grammys is gonna be the shit!

Well, I spent lots of this year listening to old songs – rediscovering old gems I didn’t know I had as well as classics that I wasn’t exposed to earlier. OMG, who knew Foreigner sounded so good?

2012 has been a good year for concerts and lots of what I listened to depended on the concerts I was going. I think the most memorable was the GREATEST HITS CONCERT back in February. a1! The last three days of February was madness and I didn’t regret a minute of it. Plus, I am now the proud owner of TWO autographed albums by a1!

The London Olympics brought back my love of the Spice Girls and the notion of GIRL POWER! Also from UK – One Direction! Liam Payne!!!

Though I have not started watching Season 4 of Glee but I still listen to the songs each week and needless to say, I love their songs from their Grease-inspired episode, Glease. OMG Darren Criss still sounds so good and I love every song from his mouth. #20 is a tribute to him.

Lastly, movie soundtracks! Rock of Ages introduced good ol’ classic rock and Pitch Perfect was aca-madness! Skylar Astin’s voice as well as Anna Kendrick’s performance of ‘Cups’. And, the introduction of Foreigner! They have been featured in several episodes of Supernatural but I didn’t really notice them till now.

Wow, it’s been a year.

Last year I think I spent a week preparing this post but this time this year, I have only three days before the end of the world year. It’s been a busy year (because work is so time consuming) and I’ve only got the energy to write mini reviews. But you get the drift – anything with lots of capital letters, exclamation marks or “OMG”s means I’m really pysched about that movie.

So, here goes (in no particular order):

The most anticipated finale of the year~!

Harry fights his own demons. Ron and Hermione kiss. Neville Longbottom stands up for himself. McGonagall is badass. Snape has a heart. Molly Weasley says the word “Bitch”. Last of all, Voldemort hugs awkwardly.

This is the first movie that introduced Michael Fassbender to me (not including 300 and Inglourious Basterds) and my, my, what a fine Mr. Rochester he plays. Mia Wasikowska was lovely as Jane Eyre too. Each time they appeared together, there were sparks flying off the screen.

Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy!

The outtakes for this film were full of bromance and even their interviews were full of it. It really set up the back story for the X-Men movies really well and I do hope the rumours of a sequel are true!

I really, really liked the book and I don’t care if you didn’t like the movie. To me, the casting was perfect and beautiful. Loving the year they met and that of Paris.

Emma Morley: ‘Live each day as if it’s your last’, that was the conventional advice, but really, who had the energy for that? What if it rained or you felt a bit glandy? It just wasn’t practical. Better by far to simply try and be good and courageous and bold and to make a difference. Not change the world exactly, but the bit around you. Go out there with your passion and your electric typewriter and work hard at…something. Change lives through art maybe. Cherish your friends, stay true to your principles, live passionately and fully and well. Experience new things. Love and be loved, if you ever get the chance.

As funny as it was, it was also very real – the feelings of what goes on in the mind of a still-single BFF when the other BFF finally gets married… and there’s someone else fighting to be in your position as the prime BFF.

Melissa McCarthy was a scene-stealer; whether she was spewing “lava”, organizing fight club, stealing puppies or dispensing words of wisdom. Kristen Wiig was just hilarious in that scene, trying to get the attention of Officer Rhodes (Chris O’Dowd).

Annie Walker: I feel like her life is going off and getting perfect and mine is just like phrrr..

One of my favourite scenes from the movie! (…right before he pummeled the other guy to death)

Ryan Gosling – need I really say more? Strong, silent and charming exhibit of a man.

Textbook scene. Enough said.

This year’s big Oscar winner!

Watching Bertie slowly overcome his stutter and cussing was a real joy. Once again, British humour is present! I really enjoyed Geoffrey Rush’s performance as Bertie’s voice coach.

Another Oscar nominee that introduced the lovely Hailee Steinfeld as Mattie Ross. She really held her own against Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon – and she got to hang out with them!

Loved the scene where Rooster Cogburn (Bridges) carried Mattie after the horse gave out to treat her snake bite.

Hannah Weaver: Seriously?! It’s like you’re photoshopped!

Another Ryan Gosling movie!

It’s one of my favourite romantic comedies and I really liked that scene where Hannah (Emma Stone) rushes into the bar and plants a big one on Jacob (Gosling) and later when they talked the night away, explored his $2000 massage chair and fell asleep.

Honourable mentions:
Attack The Block, Super 8, Win Win, Rango, Real Steel, The Help, Margin Call.

Honourable mentions:

  1. Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera – Moves Like Jagger
  2. NKOTBSB – Don’t Turn Out The Lights
  3. The Band Perry – If I Die Young
  4. Paramore – Monster
  5. David Cook – The Last Goodbye
  6. Britney Spears – Criminal
  7. Katy Perry – The One That Got Away
  8. Rihanna – We Found Love
  9. Christina Perri – Jar of Hearts / A Thousand Years
  10. Bruno Mars – Grenade / It Will Rain

To be honest, I cannot remember much of what happened in the first half of the year except that I was really into My Chemical Romance and The Script (they came to Singapore!!!). Now, at the end of the year, I can tell you Foster The People‘s album, Torches, has made quite an impression on my eardrums. 😉

Take That re-emerged onto my iPod after they contributed to the end credits of X-Men: First Class. Elsewhere, the introduction of the Warblers on Glee Season 2 brought Darren Criss – his amazing form and voice – to our eyes and ears! I’ve never been this excited about a new character before.

Aldous Huxley: After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.

Top Row: Kick-Ass, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Social Network, Whip It, Toy Story 3
Bottom Row: Easy A, Inception, The Town, Let Me In, Monga

Decided to do things a little differently this year, especially so when I’ve got my own Tumblr account. There’s everything there!

The following screencaps and gifs all are from Tumblr!

Eduardo Saverin: Sorry, but my Prada’s at the cleaners along with my hoodie and my ‘fuck-you’ flip-flops, you pretentious douchebag!

Tyler Winklevoss: I’m six-foot-five, 220 pounds, and there’s two of me.

Brandon: Is there an Olive here?
Rosemary: There’s a whole jar of them in the fridge!

Plus, some of the cuter characters…

Wally: Are you ready for the best duck in the whole wide world, huh?
Sebastian: I can’t eat duck
Wally: W-what do you mean you can’t eat duck?
Sebastian: Wally, do you know what they do to ducks at the waterfowl farms?
Cassie: Sweetie, I think that’s veal.  You’re thinking of veal.
Sebastian: No, I read about the ducks too. They force-feed the ducks 7 pounds of food a day.  A plastic tube, they drill them to their throat. Ducks get this liver disease called hepatic lipidosis and they can’t walk.  Nature’s in crisis and there is only one mammal to blame.

I guess that’s all for 2010!

I’m happy with this post though it’s quite lengthy. I spent a week on it, so I hope whoever’s reading will like it!
