THEY GOT MARRIED… FINALLY

(This post is long overdue – but indulge me)

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part I
— 4 out of 5 stars

The movie finally opened on November 24, 2011!

It’s been a long time waiting and it’s still only half of the final instalment. And yes… Edward and Bella finally get married and have sex!

Unfortunately, most of the sex scenes and birthing scene were tamed down to fit into the PG-13 rating. It was too tamed down for me cos everything seems to be in flashes and before you know it, poof, Renesmee Carlie Cullen is born.

Charlie Swan: I know Edward will be a good husband. I know this, because I’m a cop. Cops know things. And I know how to hunt someone down to the end of the earth… I also know how to use a gun.

Wedding of the Year!

But the most WOW! part of the entire movie was THE WEDDING. OMG! The gown was just amazingly beautiful! The decor was breathtaking too. All the trees and draping flowers were just beautiful. Though nothing can draw attention away from the bride and Charlie Swan is possibly the best movie father this year…

Bella Swan: Don’t let me fall, Dad.
Charlie Swan: Never

One more thing I loved was the toiletries bag that Bella brought on her honeymoon! Sometimes you have to admit that style comes with money… Cullen money.

Jacob gets a meatier role because he has assumed his role as an Alpha to protect Bella and her unborn child. He’s finally become a man! And let’s not talk about what happens in Part II after he has imprinted. Awkward.

Obviously I can’t wait to see Part II where our dear Bella finally becomes invincible and even fairer with yellow/red eyes. Her special vampire ability. Her hunting skills. I hope they show the scene where she beats Emmett at arm wrestling! Plus, Lee Pace will be in it!

LIFE IS THE MOST SPECTACULAR SHOW ON EARTH

Water For Elephants (2011)

Based on the novel by Sara Gruen, Robert Pattinson stars as Jacob Jankowski, an aspiring vet who drops out of Cornell after his parents died in a car accident. He stowaways on a train with the Benzini Brothers circus, owned by August Rosenbluth (Christoph Waltz). During one of the performances, Jacob is instantly captivated by the beautiful Marlena (Reese Witherspoon), August’s wife and star performer. Trouble starts to brew when Jacob and Marlena bond over Rosie the elephant, the circus’ new starring act, and develop feelings for each other under the watchful eyes of August.

My first reaction after the movie ended: WOW. I thought the beauty of the circus and its acts were captured perfectly. Reese Witherspoon looked so graceful and elegant on the horses and on Tai, the elephant. Circus families are very tightly-knit and it’s pretty clear that they share a strong rapport with one another. When someone is in trouble, everyone reacts to help him.

The real star of the show has to be Tai! OMG she’s so smart! She can be quite playful too, especially when she thinks no one’s looking.

Christoph Waltz played another scary, angry man (brilliantly) and the strangling scene reminded me of Inglourious Basterds, where he was strangling someone else. Remember, SAY NO TO ANIMAL ABUSE! Robert Pattinson was quite believable as a vet, and I didn’t think of him as a sparkly vampire throughout the movie (maybe it was because he was covered in dirt most of the time), and he speaks Polish!

A really beautiful film – go watch it!

CHOICE

YAYYY!

I caught The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on its opening day yesterday – 1 July 2010!

I think it’s much nicer than The Twilight Saga: New Moon! Considering that I’m no longer that Twi-crazy as I was when Twilight first came out two years ago and I was busy devouring the books back then, I think I’m making a rather rational opinion here.

In Eclipse, missing people and mysterious killings hit Seattle while Victoria is still in her quest for revenge. Bella is in danger but this time, she has the protection of the Cullens and the Wolf Pack. She also makes an important decision regarding her mortality and has to choose between her love for Edward and friendship for Jacob.

Jacob Black: Let’s face it, I’m hotter than you.

It was pretty obvious I was sitting in a cinema full of Team Jacobs cos when Jacob appeared (with his shirt on), there were cat calls and wolf calls from behind. Whereas for Edward, there was just giggling. Even Bella doesn’t giggle. There was rousing support for the dialogue between Edward and Bella since people who have read Eclipse would know that one of the most highly anticipated scenes occurred in the tent before the fight began. Almost everyone laughed when Jacob said to Edward in his face, “I’M HOTTER THAN YOU.” Likewise, the laughters were there when Edward grunted “Doesn’t he have a shirt?” when shirtless Jacob comes onscreen. One of the funniest part has to come from Bella when she tries to punch Jacob in the face when he tried to kiss her, I guess Team Switzerland didn’t suck as much before, seeing she couldn’t cause any physical hurt to both guys.

Jacob Black: I kissed Bella, and she broke her hand punching my face.

And I don’t think I have ever supported Team Jacob as much as I was watching Eclipse. It all started in New Moon but I was wondering why Jacob didn’t fight for his chance to be with Bella once Edward was back. In Eclipse, you can see him really putting much effort to stop Bella from becoming a vampire and to let her see there she has a choice – keep her heart beating and be with him. But for the record, I’m Team Edward. Like what Jacob says, Bella can love both Edward and Jacob, just like you can be Team Edward and Team Jacob at the same time.

Edward Cullen: Bella, would you please stop trying to take your clothes off?

The opening sequence is enough to draw you in on the vampire army of newborns, but I guess it got waylaid by the requisite meadow scene Edward and Bella shares. Each time Riley or other newborns come onscreen, the tension is there and the fight at the end was definitely action-packed. Lots of decapitation – that’s how you ‘kill’ a vampire – before burning them. Don’t tell me you don’t remember how Alice came from the back and ripped James’ head out of his socket back in Twilight. This time, it will be much more obvious cos they come with visual and sound effects.

Eclipse also sees the introduction of Leah and Seth Clearwater into the Wolf Pack. Both will have much more significant roles in Breaking Dawn but it was nice to see Leah because she’s the only female in the Wolf Pack. There is also the back story on Rosalie and Jasper so that should be interesting. Though it was sped up and you couldn’t enjoy how Jasper felt when he finally met Alice at the bar. The scene between Bella and Charlie is so funny, just like how any birds and the bees talk would end up. Charlie’s reaction to Bella’s exclamation is priceless! Oh, and look out for the scene when Edward proposes – there was applause in the audience! 4 and a half out of 5 stars.

ROBERT PATTINSON GETS WAXED

I was watching Entertainment Tonight earlier and they said Robert Pattinson is getting his own wax figure at Madame Tussauds in Times Square, New York! That will be tomorrow, March 25 2010, at 1030hrs.

R-Pattz's Wax Figure

There’s even a Facebook page for the event.

Personally, I think the eyes and smile looks un-Robert. Eyebrows are too thick as well. It looks likes he’s walking out of some Twilight movie poster, but can’t bring himself to smile widely. His awkward smile is better than this. They’ve got his hair completely right though – messily stylish.
